Where Creativity Meets Resilience: A Coloring Book Initiative for Rohingya Children

In May 2026, we successfully printed and distributed 500 Rohingya coloring books in Kutupalong Refugee Camp in Bangladesh. This continues to be one of our most well-received programs, offering an inclusive and accessible creative activity that engages children of all ages.
Culturally Relevant Coloring Books for Rohingya Children
Our Rohingya coloring books are tailored specifically for the community and developed in collaboration with Rohingya educators. Like all of our coloring book initiatives, these materials are designed to support cultural preservation, language familiarity, and creative expression within displacement settings.
By incorporating familiar scenes and culturally relevant imagery, the books help children connect learning with their everyday experiences while strengthening identity and imagination.
Community-Centered Production and Partnerships
As part of our commitment to community-centered impact, we work with local printers in Bangladesh to produce all materials, helping support the local economy and ensure efficient distribution.
We also partner with local teachers who work directly with students in the camps. Their involvement is essential in ensuring the books are delivered effectively and integrated into daily learning activities.
Distribution Details
Each participating student received:
-
1 Rohingya coloring book
-
12 coloring pencils
-
1 pencil sharpener
All materials were fully distributed to students. Teachers were also encouraged to organize coloring competitions and group activities to further promote engagement, creativity, and peer learning within the classroom.
Student Reflections
I have a dream. The dream of being an artist. I love to draw sceneries. Most especially I can draw rural scenery. In this book there are some pages which are common to me. After receiving this book, I started coloring those common sceneries. There are also some camp’s sceneries which are easy for me to adjust perfect color combination. By using different color, I can get a chance to explore the different color combinations. I feel successful when I can change the look of a picture by coloring. This coloring book is related to my dream profession. I feel relaxed and comfortable while creating a piece of art.

When I first tried to color page, teacher taught me how to grip pencil correctly. Because I didn’t hold crayons in a correct way. So he taught me: the proper way of holding crayons, sharpening crayons and recognizing what color to use in the object. I can’t color pages quickly. It takes time to make a page colorful. But making it happen, I feel proud for completing a page colorful. I color pages in a way that I like most. By the help of this coloring materials, now I can hold any pen and pencil in a correct way. My parents and teacher praising me for my improvement. Thank you, Books Unbound, for this materials.
